Tell us something about you that most people don't know about.
Ans: I can speak Arabic? I don’t know, I have some sports records in Canada for university, maybe. I tell people all my secrets. Oh, I hate speaking in public. I hate public speaking in front of adults. Just, I don’t know, it’s one of the hardest things to do in life. Next to divorce, it’s one of the freakiest things. I still get very scared in front of adults, I still do it, I have to do it, my jobs and things but, students are easy. Students are easy, that’s why I teach probably, but for adults, I lose my mind.
What was a defining moment of your life?
Ans: There are a few big ones, Grade 6, when I first picked up this basketball, and I got good at it and I made the team, then my life changed. I went with this, it got me in university, it got me a scholarship, got me educated, and it probably helped me get around the world. But my biggest regret in life is that I wasn’t a football/soccer player, but I loved basketball. I loved football though, but back then you could only pick one sport and had to go with it and I wasn’t really good at everything, so yeah I love basketball but if I had to change it, I would’ve been a football player.
What impact do you want to leave on the world?
Ans: I try my best to keep my footprint the lowest, have you heard of this global footprint? So what your global footprint is how much you as a person use electricity, cars, of energy and things like that so one of the highest global footprints in the world is USA, per person how much you use. So I try my best, I ride a bike here, I ride a bike in Canada, I try not to use cars. Obviously I’m going to use cars sometime. I have a bus that takes me here, I bike three times a week here but it’s a bit far and it’s cold now, and I try to keep it like that, yeah. And try not to put a big impact on the world. I don’t need – my parents house is massive, you know in Canada and America you know how we live right? In these countries, the house is bigger than the school. We can’t live like that, so I try not to be that kind of a person. That’s just the way it was, so you try to have a low impact of how much you waste because it’s becoming serious, no?

“We lost, we won, at least we had fun.” That’s a famous quote, that’s what I used with my kids. It’s about sports, because we care about winning and losing a little too much. It’s a bit over the top now with sports and NBA, soccer, it’s about fun.
